CUlead Program Teaches Leadership, Excellence, and Development to Emerging Credit Union Leaders

Sarah Capri, Branch Manager, selected for 2020 CUlead Class

Together Credit Union is thrilled to announce that Sarah Capri, branch manager at the credit union’s Fenton location, has been selected for Heartland Credit Union Association’s CUlead program. The 2020 class is comprised of 21 participants from various credit unions in Missouri and Kansas who possess leadership potential and are ready to further develop their skills.
 
“I am excited to be selected for the CUlead program, and look forward to developing my leadership skills and connecting with peers from credit unions across Missouri and Kansas,” said Capri.  “I hope to learn various strategies for managing branches and departments from a diverse group of experts with a wide-range of experiences, and use that knowledge to strengthen my team and branch.” 
 
CUlead participants will meet six times during the year to learn everything from credit union philosophy, advocacy and communication skills to regulator insights, financial analysis and strategic planning. Each session includes two intensive days of learning from experts, networking, and self-reflection.
 
“The primary purpose of our CUlead program is to build leaders, but we keep hearing about the connections and relationships formed between the class members," said Clint Armistead, director of training & events and CUlead coordinator, in Heartland Credit Union Association’s announcement. “Even years later, graduates of the program keep in touch."
 
Capri is the second member of the Together Credit Union selected for the CUlead program. Last year, Emily Buehler, Director of Branch Operations, was selected for the 2019 class.
 
“CUlead provided me with new ideas, new tools, and the avenue to meet other credit union employees that have the same passion and purpose that I do. Having the personalized development experience helped me to understand even more about credit union best practices, the shifting demands, and leadership. The ongoing support from executive leadership, management and employees across the organization made me even more thankful and appreciative to be working for a credit union,” revealed Buehler.
 
Now in its sixth year, the CUlead program is funded by the Heartland Credit Union Charitable Foundation, an organization established to invest in and through credit unions to enhance their abilities to serve their members and communities.
