Welcome to the City of Fenton

The City of Fenton, a fourth-class municipality, is governed according to Missouri State Statutes. The City is divided into four wards, each having two Aldermen who are elected to two-year terms. Board meetings are held monthly and may be subject to change due to holidays. Please call City Hall to confirm meeting dates. The Mayor, Board of Aldermen, and the City's professional staff, strive to deliver a high level of services and accessible local representation to make Fenton a "preferred destination".

Interstates 44 and 270 as well as Missouri State Highways 30 and 141 provide Fenton with excellent access to the entire metropolitan area. Bi-State Development Agency currently runs a daily express service. To obtain schedules, please contact Bi-State directly by phone or on the web at www.bi-state.org.

The City enjoys an enviable financial position. Governmental operations are primarily funded by a 1% sales tax, 1/2% storm water/parks and recreation tax, and a 5% commercial gross receipts tax on utilities. The City does not charge businesses with merchants and manufacturers tax, or a municipal real estate or personal property tax. Residents pay no taxes on utilities or any municipal real estate or personal property taxes.

The City of Fenton provides its residents a broad spectrum of free services. The City pays for trash, yard waste and bulk pickups, curbside recycling, and street lighting along with $10 monthly towards sanitary sewers. These services save the average homeowner about $700 per year.

Residents and businesses are protected by a fully staffed St. Louis County police precinct. Our modern Public Works facility and up-to-date equipment ensure the quality of Fenton's parks, buildings and streets, and during winter provide excellent snow removal.

The City of Fenton also offers full service building permit and inspection services ensuring quality development and code compliance. By offering this service through the Planning and Zoning Department, the City offers a "one stop shop" for building permits.

The City of Fenton is called the "City of Parks" due to its extensive park and recreation system. The City has seven fully developed parks on 350 plus acres including soccer fields, ball diamonds, sand volleyball courts, basketball courts, tennis courts, playgrounds, fishing ponds, and approximately three miles of bike/pedestrian paths through the City. The parks include: Fenton City Park, Bud Weil Memorial Park, Fenton Meramec Greenway, Olde Towne Plaza Riverside Park, Valiant Park, and Westside Park. Plans are being developed for the former Fabick property in the heard of the City. These plans include trails and some passive uses.

RiverChase of Fenton is a recreation center located at 900 Horan Road. The 72,000 s.f. complex opened its doors on June 25, 1999. It houses the Department of Parks and Recreation and annually hosts many special events and over 200 programs for all ages. Amenities include two outdoor pools, and indoor leisure pool, fitness area with indoor track, basketball/volleyball courts, a game room, meeting rooms, aerobics room and children's rooms.

Careful planning and zoning decisions have provided large tracts of land that have been developed into prosperous commercial/industrial parks now employing over 20,000 people within city limits. The industrial expansion began with the construction of the Chrysler Assembly Plant in 1959 and now encompasses approximately 1,200 acres.

Fenton's original commercial area is in Olde Towne located along and near Main Street in the southeast section of the City. City officials have developed a master redevelopment plan for Olde Towne to revitalize the area and make public improvements. Complementing this area is the commercial area along Gravois Road and the new Gravois Bluffs and Dierbergs Fenton Crossing developments.

Fenton's diverse housing base is relatively new with most of the 1,400 plus homes having been built within the last ten years. Fenton takes pride in treating its homeowners as VIPs and believes the City's ordinances not only protect the lives and safety of our families, but preserve their property values as well.

The City's mission is to develop a community that balances progress and quality of life. Designated by the State of Missouri as one of the top growth areas in the state, Fenton is proud of its long history and confident of its future!
